I've never really been a fan of bats but...
Posted 14 years agoHere's a little preview of something I'm working on... It's part of that grab bag story I didn't mean to start...
Gentian moved into town with his two older brothers, Valdrin and Terek, about a year ago. Even though he’s only been there a short while, he can’t wait to get out of high school this year. Coming from a family of Common Pipistrelles, he’s had to endure endless jokes about his short stature his whole life. He’s pretty good at not letting it bother him, but with the end so close he can’t help but feel anxious.
Gentian has only one friend, a Flying Fox Bat named Milo that plays for the school baseball team. Despite their vast differences, Milo and Gentian were instant best friends when they first met. Milo never made fun of how short Gentian was. The bat community has always been very close-knit. Gentian attends all of Milo’s games just to watch the boy in motion. He loves watching the big smile that spreads across Milo’s face when the crowd cheers for his team. Gentian also can’t help but stare in awe at the sheer size of Milo. Compared to him, Milo was a giant. He had no idea bats could be so big. Then again, he had never met a Flying Fox before Milo.
Gentian has always liked to be independent so he recently acquired a part time job entertaining at children’s parties as a ventriloquist. It was his brothers’ idea. Being carnivorous bats, they’ve always been good at throwing their voices across rooms, but who knew they could make money from it?
That's just a bit of it... Some key parts anyways... Is it any good?

Stuck... But I have a solution...
Posted 14 years agoI'm trying to write a story but I just don't know where to start... I don't know what I want to write about... Oh! I know! I'll do a "grab bag" short story... Fun stuff really... I just need 5 random occupations, 5 random genres, 5 random settings, 5 random themes, and 5 random objects...
It's more fun when someone else chooses the random stuff... But I can do it myself too... I'll give you an example of each thing so you can have an idea of what to comment...
Occupations
Construction Worker
Teacher
Ventriloquist
Athlete
Aspiring Chef
Genres
Mystery
Fantasy
Horror
Romance
Historical Fiction
Settings
Department Store
Small Close Knit Town
Mansion
Restaurant Bathroom
Payphone Booth
Themes
Lust for Power
Betrayal
Good and Evil
Love
Discovery
Objects
A Locket
A Baseball
A T-Shirt
A Quarter
A Book
Now what I'll do is roll a die 5 times and see what I'm writing about... I'll count 6 as roll again...

Whew! No 6's!
So I'm writing a short Romance about a Ventriloquist in a Department Store, dealing with Love(Go figure)... and there has to be a Baseball involved in the story...
I actually kind of like these results... But go ahead and comment with a grab bag for me! Please and Thank You!

Fresh Start...
Posted 14 years agoI've decided it might just be best for me to write rather than draw... But what to write?
