The plot deepens! Tbh, it's very interesting that we find out more about the developer for Mina.

Super Mina's curiousity and memories lead to her to make some of these interesting discoveries on her own. Not going to lie, I enjoy watching more of her scenes than the main cast at the moment. However, this episode also serves as an important episode to show the technical genius of the developer.

Finally Mina lore! Only took 9 episodes lol. Man this episode got me pretty emotional at the end. Set up Mina’s previous owner as an abusive and nasty person only to reveal him as a genuinely kind and loving person who wanted Mina to live as human a life as possible. Most importantly, Mina is the FIRST of her kind, very interesting

It really hurts thinking about how she feels she was abandoned and abused by her previous owner and that’s why she was gripping Takuma so tight today, asking for reassurances about her value.. poor thing doesn’t know that Otani loved her too :/ even Super Mina couldn’t help but cry. Whatever Otani did he did it well because these are way more than just kitchen tools.

Nice that we finally got to learn more about Mina's past and who created her. It was really interesting to see Super Mina entering Mina's memory to try and figure out her dreams.

Now they are reaching into why Mina is how she is, interesting.
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

do you ever get a feeling like you are watching a perfect episode of anime?

There was so much happening in this episode, every single second was meaningful and the impact of the last 5 minutes felt incredibly satisfying. Even the humorous moments were never too much that they would in any way take away from the seriousness of the episode's broader plot, perfect balance.

I loved that they were able to include Super Mina in the plot again without making it feel like a side character just needed to make up screen time quota.

It was cool that the things Mina's original creator said about them being coded to care for humans called back nicely to these scenes earlier in the episode, and also Super Mina obviously feeling terrible that she was too forceful with Takuma and wanting to be more caring.

With Mina's lore showing how she was a prototype and the original owner having made her to be more than just a kitchen tool explains why she has some self-awareness, interesting. I wonder if her influence also enabled Mamoru to be more human-like as well.

The true hero of this anime indeed.

Otani's story is infinitely more interesting than Takuma's, that's for sure. I'd love to see a prequel series about this guy with a terminal illness struggling to create a robot program that teaches his values to its owner. You could say that in this way, Otani is living on through the Minas.

Now, questions are: is the company going to patch that brain sharing vulnerability, and what's Rihito going to do now that his Super Mina's been infected with the waifu routines of Takuma's Mina?

What a twist. So Mina previous owner wasn't some abusive guy who got fed up with her and threw her away, he was her creator! It was obvious that the creator wasn't indifferent towards her, otherwise he wouldn't have made her so special. What I didn't expect was that the previous owner would turn out to be the creator himself.

Feels bad for Otani. I wonder if he actually died or they pickled his brain or something, lol.

Have robots ever killed people in this universe, I wonder? Super Mina was very close to murdering Takuma there and I'm wondering how many people get killed "By accident" from robots. That was a pretty dangerous situation and if not for Mina, Takuma would be dead, awkwardly. + It seems like older Mina can rip apart a human lol? Meanwhile super Mina is 3 times stronger?! Apparently people manufacturing these robots haven't seen movies where AI revolts against humans. Make robots several times stronger than an average human. What can possibly go wrong? I guess the purpose is for robots to save owners during disasters or accidents, but super Mina strength is just overkill at this point.

Backstory & Lore. And it was way deeper than anything I expected from a show like this. Why did Otani want his creations to feel love too? So many questions & unfortunately, her Memory has been Overwritten so that isn't available to her.

Wait, robots can dream? That's crazy. But when Super Mina said Mina's previous owner didn't exist, it made me think that maybe she was just hallucinating like the AI we have today, cooking up misinformation and presenting them as facts. But that's not the case.

Wtf were they doing in the park? Who tf is Saionsugi Takehito? Did Mina also mix up the names of Takuma and Rihito? Bruh.

Anyway, what's more important is that Mina's original owner was a man named Otani. And he's the one who created the Mina robots? But his assistant implied that Mina robots like Super Mina already existed. So, this was before they were fully commercialized? Either way, it seems like Takuma's Mina was probably a first of her kind. But if she was a prototype made by the creator of the series, how did she end up on the second-hand market? Does the company/manufacturer know about the things that Otani programmed into them before he took his last breath? If Mina remembers Otani even if the memories are "buried" why did she cook up false memories of her old owner being abusive? I'm so confused rn.

Also, these robots are OP af. I'm almost certain that combat-type robots already exist and they're probably used in wars committing war crimes in this world.

@0451 I think Saionsugi Takehito would be super Mina's owner's father. If he purchased Super Mina for his son then he could be the real "owner"

Nah. It seems to be a combination of Mina and Super Mina's owners' names. Kosugi Takuma + Saionji Rihito = Saionsugi Takehito. Mina mixed both of them up.

We finally got to see Mina's past and learn who her owner was. I used to think her previous owner was an abusive and bad person, but it turns out he was a good person who created Mina and the new models of Super Minas, giving them the capacity to love. Unfortunately, he had that illness. I doubt we'll see more of Mina's past or her creator, but it was a beautiful story that almost brought me to tears. Mina deserves to be loved, and Takuma fulfills that role perfectly.

Mina lore finally revealed, they really had us thinking she was abused or something but turns out she couldn’t have been more loved lol, and apparently she’s even the start of how the Mina series was able to love humans the same way they are loved, so we can thank this Otani guy for this wholesome romance we have now between Takuma and Mina. I’ll say tho, there wouldn’t be a need to worry about people loving their kitchen tools if they didn’t look like us, but I guess some could still fall for a robot that looks like Johnny 5 so maybe that kind of resistance is futile lol. Now this lore was cool and interesting, it definitely adds a lot to what was already a great romance, but I prefer when the show is a chill SoL, it’s one of my favorites to relax to this season, Takuma playing with Momoru was sweet at least lol.

I also really enjoyed the bit with Super Mina in the first half, was not expecting her to go all death by snusnu mode tho lol, that was wild, I wonder if Takuma could have been seriously hurt there. The visual of Mina fighting Super Mina was funny as well, Mina ain’t about to let her man go to another robot babe lol. It’s also interesting to see that robots have a sort of way to be sick, overheating is a cool way to portray that, this just makes me wonder if they have cooling fans that can be cleaned.

Hahaha I love Mina's reactions. Super Mina went all red eyes and forced Takuma to hug her... Mina was about to tear her arms off.. Get your hands off mah man bitch
Then Tamkuma is hugging Mina later on and she had done research on why it was important to him... seems her feelings are getting stronger.
Super-Mina trying to figure out Mina's mixed up memories

Takuma is still a dweeb, but there's been a lot of character growth for him that is cleverly understated. He sitting at the table playing with Mamoru wondering what's on Mina's mind and being concerned about her well-being is a huge leap from how he started this show.
What he's doing now is closer to a real relationship. His respect for Mina is on the level of her being a real person, and his concerns for her are more emotional. He's stopped considering her a machine. Mina thinks of Takuma as more than a master.

The memory crossover leading to Super Mina cuddling Rihito was cute

But who was that other guy from Super Mina's dream? He definitely wasnt Otani. Is he actually someone that exists either in Mina or Super Mina's past or just a fake memory Otani made so Mina would not miss him.

@Sigmar-Unberogen Remember how I told you she's always been like that? This is what I was talking about. She was a prototype. The others are like this too. She's the most like this, but the rest are like this too.
@HyperlinkBlocked Bruh... At the very start she was obviously loyal to master due to programming, as expected. It was crystal clear in this episode that her obsession didn't start immediately. What we know now is that she was GIVEN the ability to love despite her being a home appliance. There was an obvious time skip of at least several months before Otani's health deteriorated. In other words, Mina had plenty of time to excessively think about the guy and fall in love with him to the extent she got physical and was obviously going mental due to stress prior to "memory wipe". Her memory had to wiped precisely because her emotions developed to the point she was in pain. Why that happened? Well, it's not like she had anything else to do! She was literally just a head. Not to mention, she was obviously influenced by him being her creator. In other words there's gratitude to her creator and a form of attachment similar to how kids are attached to parents. This doesn't indicate in any way that Mina was going to love the next owner immediately and just as hard. And, this doesn't in any way indicate that other robots will ACTUALLY love their owners immediately too. Heck, the entire point I made last time was this. Mina was a kitchen appliance, but as Takuma began showing love, she's starting to love him back and this love is getting stronger each episode. I'm not denying that mina had no ability to love! I'm denying (still) your suggestion that she loved Takuma from the second she became his. That's why I mentioned pets. Any dog will show some form of affection for the owner, but a loved and neglected dog will develop different affections. There's no reason to assume a bullied robot will love their master the same way a loved robot would! Just because a program tells every robot to live for the sake of master, it takes time for them to realize that there's more than just programming to such desire. Do you get what I mean??? It takes time for them to develop feelings to the point when "I love him because programming tells me so" becomes>>>>>> "I love him because I chose to love him on my own free will!"
I think I made this statement clear several times. It's one thing when someone's told "you should love him because he's your master" and them realizing they ACTUALLY love and care for their master. It's no longer just a duty and programming. That's the whole premise of the show IMO.

If you're not going to bring anything new to the discussion table, please don't bother to reply to me again.

About time that we get some Super Mina lore, and that may have to with when both her and Mina had the cross-memory communication.

The mixed-up memories did affect Mina, but Super Mina using her skinship to tempt Takuma is not quite the test she's looking to prove her point, until Mina came between to stop them, and most importantly the former from losing her sanity. Moreover, it proves why Mina is the only one for Takuma, being able to care for her in an affectionate way. And truly, it seems that Mina has a past that he and Super Mina don't know, barring that her previous owner, Tomizaku Otani...doesn't exist.

Super Mina looking into Mina's past, and more than finding a Mina that was modded, her old memories remain intact as a prototype that the robotic engineer of Tomozaku used to work on as a kitchen-centric cookng robot and wants her to become a robot that can replicate being a human at the same time. That's where he overwrote her memories, wanting her to explore the world than to remember someone of insignificance, only that that memory got preserved in the process.

Otani is a god at trying to stuff robotics into humanity, he would make a good prequel protagonist.

I always love it when Mina is the one who instigated the action or when she asks for reassurance from Takuma. If her mouth has actuators and if her eyes have tear ducts, she might be showing a face radiant with joy the way Super Mina does.

This backstory revelation changes everything...

Her previous owner didn't cast her off aside like trash, that was false memories imprinted into her after her memory was deleted. Her previous owner was none other than the person who was responsible for all the Mina models, Otani the creator, who made this Mina a prototype and, therefore the FIRST Mina. That explains why she has so many abnormal functions and capabilities. How her memory storage is incomprehensibly vast, how she has the feature to remember things that deviated from her regular protocol of cooking and meal prep, and how she's somehow able to have a will of her own.

Though she may not remember it, her creator's final command was to love others and be loved, something she's trying to do as Takuma's wife. May Otani's final wish for Mina be fulfilled.

It's particularly amusing how robots could be self-aware of their existence and then their creator. Would they revere the creator, would they be indifferent, or would they hate their creator like in the story "I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream" by Harlan Ellison. That would be nightmarish. Honestly seeing everything from the show puts me in such a dilemma, I am looking forward to the days when bipedal android AI are possible IRL, on the other hand, it's both uncanny and somewhat infuriating to have an android so indistinguishable from humans that we start treating them as our own, I find that utterly unacceptable. I know that Super Mina is designed to be the perfect companion bot, but seeing her 'supple' organs pressed on Takuma when she clung to him just goes to show that humanity is 100% cooked in this world. Not in the sense that AI controls humans but that humans see androids as close to an equal.

Kosugi Mina’s preservation of the memories of Otani is beautiful; I almost shed a few tears, actually, but now I wonder: How’d she do it? Super Mina said that it could have easily been erased, and I agree that it probably should have been at some point during the refurbishment and sales process through which Takuma acquired her. This’ll be interesting…

By the way, I was totally onboard with the slice of life vibes that were going on hitherto, but this is so much more interesting. Huzzah, for plot development!

I really liked that twist, with the kinda connotations it was going for, thought it was just gonna be old owner bad, boooooo but nah, there was depth to it creating Mina and writing in something to trick Mina into thinking her past owner was a bad bean so moves on, wasn't expecting this plot 😭

Was nice they got Super Mina to shine for this too delving into Mina's memory for this, was scared something bad was gonna happen to her after doing all this diving 😂

Episode approached ethics and purpose, for once. It's still not Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, but it was something. Tools gain sentimental value to humans, serving a purpose far beyond their original intent. Think about anything you may own from a deceased relative, for example.
