Cock Roulette development update - 07/16/2024
Hello, I bring another short status update.
If you didn't know, I've recently released my first public build v0.3 and since then, I've been keeping busy gathering feedback.
I will go into what is planned for the next release v0.4 and what I'm working on right now.
Content tags:
First thing on my agenda was creating a content tag system, to allow players to customize what type of video clips they will see.
You can hide and show the tagged content and some can even be set to 'exclusive', which will cause the game to only show you video clips that have said tag applied to them, hiding those who haven't.
This will work nicely with the other main feature I have planned for 0.4

Progression / Unlockables:
Next thing I'm working on will be currency you can earn by playing the game and an ingame shop available from the main menu, where you can spend your currency for unlockables. For now, the shop will only sell "booster packs".
Booster packs will be a gacha system (don't worry, no real world money is involved - it's all available through playing the game), where you can unlock new video clips. These booster packs will come in different sets and I plan to add two new sets for every major update from here on out. For 0.4 that will mean 'BBC' and 'Shemale' can be added to your roster, thanks to popular demand.

File size / Video compression:
I've also compressed pretty much all video clips and converted them to the webm format. This will cause the video files to be around 60% smaller. I'm still playing around with the compression vs. quality, and I could have gone for a higher compression rate with more modern codecs but I had to ensure browser compatibility (looking at you SAFARI

).
In any case, this will make content addition in the future less painful (v0.3 already was at >700MB).
Balancing & Audio experiments:
The game's balance is still somewhat all over the place, rest assured I am monitoring all feedback (mostly through the game's thread) very closely. My bugs/balance list is growing exponentially, and I will work on a decent chunk for the next update.
A lot of people also were very adamant about audio. I've been testing out various strategies to avoid any issues with browsers denying loading assets from the filesystem. I seem to have found a way to do so, but will likely have to wait until 0.5 or 0.6 even.
